FLOWERS FOR THE WOMEN, FLOWERETS FOR THE MADONNAS

16’, digital, colour, 1998
Original title:  “Fiori alle donne, fioretti alle Madonne”

The sympathetic characters of a village all have a problem about love: Cecé, a rough farmer in love in his way with a young African woman; the barber who shows himself to be jaunty and a womaniser but who in reality has a hidden tender heart; Maria who thinks she knows him and would like to love him, even though he does not notice her when she passes by his shop to go and clean the offices of the nearby bank; Sister Marisa who has decided to dedicate to everyone all her unrealised feelings from an unloved childhood. Portraits made in the sketches of a provincial artist.
